Looking for ideas for radiators? We’ve compiled the chic-est ideas out there. Click through for the round up!
On my quest for ideas on how to address the small, bare radiator in our foyer (see my design plan for our Modern Tudor Foyer!), I took to Pinterest in search of solutions. I think I found the answer–stay tuned to see what we decided!–and along the way I stumbled upon some other pretty great ideas that are too chic and clever not to highlight. Many are as simple as a coat of paint or adding a shelf or console table, but not without big impact. So without further ado, let’s talk radiators…or rather, how to ‘dress’ them up!
Console Table
How chic is this idea of incorporating a lucite console table around the radiator? I love the juxtaposition of the ornamented and visually ‘heavy’ radiator with the sleek, airy lines of the console. Très bien, n-est-ce, pas? Oh and this sweet pup doesn’t hurt this look either! wink, wink! Image Source
Floating Shelf
Installing a seemingly floating marble shelf above the radiator is one I’ve been seriously kicking around for our foyer. I love the minimal simplicity look and the functionality/console-style surface area, while leaving the character of the actual radiator exposed. Now, I’m re-thinking all our radiators, not just the foyer. Image Source
Cabinet Retrofit
Take a cue from your favorite sideboard. Modify an existing cabinet to act as a radiator cover by removing the back and bottom. To the unassuming eye, your radiator is now a beautiful cabinet. Technically this solution is hiding a vent, but it’s oh so applicable for the ‘ol radiator too! Image Source
Bold Paint Color
Is hashtag #paintitblack a thing? If not, it should be. Why not paint the radiator + ductwork a dark, contrasting color to the wall. I love the idea of turning the table on utilitarian elements, by making them focal points, rather than trying to conceal them. Image Source
Swap Perforated Metal for Caning
We’re all going cuckoo for caning right now, so forget the traditional perforated-metal panel and use caning instead. So simple, yet so chic. With all the walnut-toned wood happening (wood trim/wood stair case) I don’t think we’ll go this route, but I’ve got it pinned for another room someday! Image Source
Tell me, what do you think?
