When preparing for our trip abroad I decided to really simplify my morning routine so that I’d spend more time exploring the streets of Paris and less time in front of the mirror getting ready. Besides spending all day outside tends to wear off most my make-up anyways!

I narrowed it down to just four must-haves I needed to feel somewhat put together in the morning: face lotion with SPF, blush, eyebrow pencil, and lip color, either bold red or pink-tinted lipgloss depending on my mood! Pairing down my cosmetic bag not only saved on time, but also weight and bulk in my carry-on suitcase. When you’re hopping from city to city, it’s so important to pack light!

In terms of hair, I’d just gotten my hair chopped short right before we left and under direction from my stylist for my new ‘do,’ I’d spritz a little volumizing spray right out of the shower, use the hairdryer at the apartment or hotel, then do a quick straightening using my flatiron I’d brought from home. Everything (less the Aveda Style Spray) is from the drugstore. It works for me, so why not?!

i’m relatively low maintenance, but even this was hard for me to figure out what to bring. i managed to bring the basics… my husband and i are traveling long term and one thing i’ve found useful was coconut oil. we use it for cooking (we bring little bags of spices with us), moisturizer (body/face/lips), make up remover, sun screen, hair to keep the flyaways down (i have a lot).

i did the same thing with the lipstick too.. bright red and a lighter pink. happy travels!

Coconut oil–great idea! So many uses for this versatile & natural product. I’m filing this away for our next trip! Thanks Courageouslyfree and happy travels to you too!

Love this! Instead of mascara/eye liner, I just bring my eyelash curler. It gives the same illusion, without having to deal with liquids on the plane. I love Olay face lotion, especially with the SPF!
