I’ve been playing around with geometric metal shapes that I found on Etsy recently, and rather than making some kind of statement jewelry with them, I decided to make something pretty for my walls. I came up with this cool brass + cotton flossing wall hanging. A little bit boho and a little bit modern, it pairs beautifully with a mixed art grouping or on its own in a small nook area, and it’s one of my favorite things I’ve made in a while. Check out the full DIY tutorial I did for Sugar & Cloth! Into this post? Share the love! How to Make a Geometric Metal Wall HangingClick To Tweet Follow

Good morning! I’m excited to announce that I’ve launched my first DIY class on Skillshare! A major goal of mine this Summer & Fall was to start creating DIY video content, in addition to my standard photo tutorials, as an another way to share home DIY knowledge. So here I am today with my first class: DIY Lighting: How to Build a Brass Wall Sconce! It’s a quick 10-minute class that walks you through the basics of building brass tube lighting for less than 1/2 the cost of name brand retailers and also includes the EXACT source links for where to find all the materials. If you’re interested in learning the basics of building lighting, I’d love if you’d hop over to my class, enroll, and help me gain some traction as a new teacher on Skillshare! The best part is that the class is FREE for the first 25 peeps to sign up!! My goal is to fill those 25 FREE spots by next Thursday. No worries if you can’t take the class right away, just enroll now and watch later! Here’s the FREE enrollment link: http://skl.sh/2cYixrV Thank you so much for your support, and I hope you enjoy […]

I love making things, period. But every so often, a project like these Concrete & Brass Trays come along and gets me extra, uber excited. These projects usually involve trying a new technique + the project actually turning out! And as a maker, can you really ask for more than that?! Concrete & Brass Trays : How to Make Them! I’ll be the first to admit not every project turns out, which totally sucks, but I think those failed projects lead to new discoveries and sometimes a better end result in the long run. I’m hoping to share some of those #fails soon, so stay tuned–should be amusing! These concrete & brass trays are one of those projects that actually turned out a little better than I’d even planned for. I’d never worked with concrete before, so I was a little gun-shy to get started. I looked at tons of projects from bloggers who had already taken the plunge, like this one from Homey Oh My! & this one from Fall for DIY (Two of my fave bloggers BTW!) In the end, I discovered concrete is actually not so scary to work with! It’s quite fascinating how a mixture so […]

As you guys MAY have picked up from my last post, I’m all about the brass these days. I love the warmth of the metal and the way it works with my favorite wardrobe color…blue! Recently, I’d seen an upscale (read: $$$) pair of brass hoop earrings on Pinterest that looked like they’d–straight-up–been created by bending a piece of wire into a loop. And at that moment I thought to myself: A. Those are gorgeous, and B. I can bend wire. So I set out to make a pair for myself. The total cost was under $10 bucks, and these minimalist brass hoops, literally, made up in 10 minutes. I used this non-tarnishing brass wire, and there’s enough on the roll to make several sets, so think Secret Santa gifts this year! Head over to SheKnows for the full tutorial, ya’ll!

Happy Friday! We’re in the thick of wrapping up our kitchen renovation and working on getting it photographed to show you guys, but in the meantime, I’m moving into the dining room for a moment. Schoolhouse Electric Co. | West Elm | West Elm | Bellacor | Anthropologie | Chairish The hanging fixture in the dining room (that came with the house) is a drum shade with craftsman detailing. It’s okay, but a bit on the boooor-ring side, so I’d like to switch it out for a satin brass chandelier with potentially mid-century styling. I’ve been doing a bit of visual research on dining room chandeliers, and here are a few of my favorites in all price ranges. Do you have a favorite? Enjoy the weekend ahead! Follow
