A true chandelier redux! Tips for taking an old, thrifted light fixture, and reimagining it as a classically gilded chandelier in this easy 2 hour project. We’re coming up on 5 years in this house, and I’ll be the first to admit, I’ve never 100% settled into our bedroom. It’s one of those tricky rooms I haven’t quite known what to do with. This Spring we started going back-to-basics in here, painting the walls white, introducing some new-to-us thrifted pieces, and swapping things from around the house to see what sticks, as a way to rethink this room on a budget. Browsing around FB Marketplace one weekend afternoon, I scrolled upon a lime green, leafy, crystal chandelier for a steal. Albeit, it was lime green, I quite liked the French-style metal leaves and the dripping crystals, and I knew it’d be a beautiful replacement for the non-descript (almost disappearing!) flushmount currently in the room. Besides, changing the chandelier’s paint color would be an easy 2 hour project! I turned to Rust-Oleum® Universal® Metallic Pure Gold to achieve the gilded look and Rust-Oleum® Universal® Matte French Cream , a soft warm white, to differentiate the faux candlesticks from the gold fixture.

April showers have ushered in the May flowers, and everything is greening up nicely here in Minneapolis, seemingly overnight. As I’m writing this morning, I’m looking out into the backyard at the flourishing lavender lilac bushes, and I can’t help but be in a good mood because of it! Today’s DIY chandelier garland will hopefully also be a mood lifter as it too involves a big dose of Spring flowers. Spring and summer always seem to be loaded with parties and events: from Mother’s Day to birthdays to wedding season, and when it comes to party decor my favorite thing to decorate with is flowers and greens. The #1 reason why is they make such a beautiful statement without much effort on my behalf. They also make the party space feel festive enough that it’s usually the only form of decoration I really need to do. Enter the Floral Chandelier Garland that I created for Sugar & Cloth. One and done! It’s created simply by making up a series of mini bouquets and attaching them together with floral wire. When you’re ready to hang it, just drape it over the arms of your chandelier and attach the loose ends with […]

Happy Friday! We’re in the thick of wrapping up our kitchen renovation and working on getting it photographed to show you guys, but in the meantime, I’m moving into the dining room for a moment. Schoolhouse Electric Co. | West Elm | West Elm | Bellacor | Anthropologie | Chairish The hanging fixture in the dining room (that came with the house) is a drum shade with craftsman detailing. It’s okay, but a bit on the boooor-ring side, so I’d like to switch it out for a satin brass chandelier with potentially mid-century styling. I’ve been doing a bit of visual research on dining room chandeliers, and here are a few of my favorites in all price ranges. Do you have a favorite? Enjoy the weekend ahead! Follow
