It was a sad Thursday last November when my laptop decided it was the end of the road and crashed, taking with it about 6 years of travel photos, most of which my tech guy couldn’t recover. (A painstaking lesson in backing up, if I do say so!) Luckily, I also use my iPhone quite a bit for snapshots when we travel and some of my all-time favorite photos are ones captured through Instagram. So I was really kind of pumped to find Inkdot, a group of fellow Mid-westerners (Chicagoland), who are turning those favorite Insta snapshots into art, getting them off your iPhone and into your home where you can enjoy them in a more meaningful way. Surprisingly, iPhone photos an be blown up to any size so you can even create large scale, focal art with your snapshots if you like. The other cool thing is they print on innovative materials like wood and metal, which add another layer of depth to the prints. Instagram Lately: September

Finally! The day we’ve been awaiting for 6+ weeks has arrived. Today we pick up the keys to our new apartment in the North Loop! Yahooooo! It’s been 5 years of hunkering down in a very pocketbook friendly/not-so-updated apartment with the goal of saving for our first home fund. Eye on the prize, Erin, eye on the prize. Well it’s paid off, and we now have our 20% down payment saved! The only glitch is that we haven’t quite found the right first home for us, so we’re moving downtown to experience city life for awhile as we continue the house hunt. I can’t wait to get settled and make this new apartment, our apartment. Pictures to follow! Color Me Happy

Typically, I’m a neutrals girl when it comes to wardrobe and home, but there’s something about this time of year, that makes me crave color– the dirt-covered city snowbanks are diminishing, my sanding-salt-cured leather boots are feeling all too familiar, and I’m overcome with the desire to see the flower buds bloom and the green grass peek through the earth.
