Last January, while I was very pregnant, sans baby and still had free time on my hands, I took a bit of time and studied some of my favorite interiors I had pinned on Pinterest. What I discovered was that one thing all those amazing spaces had in common was ORIGINAL ART, emotion-evoking, dynamic art. After coming to this realization, I decided I wanted work towards bringing more original art into our home this year. Over the summer, I had the pleasure of getting to e-know the lovely, Marquin Campbell, painter, entrepreneur and creative brains behind Marquin Designs. I adore her work and was excited to work with her on a custom piece for my dining room. I love the dream-like quality of her painting style and that she draws inspiration from landscapes near the charming city of Savannah, Georgia. This was the first time I’d worked with an artist on a completely custom piece, and it was so much fun! Marquin had me send photos of my dining room, as well as asked me to peruse her previous works on Instagram to hone in on styles and color palettes I responded to. I gathered my thoughts and sent […]

Since becoming a mom to our daughter, Sylvia, a little over three months ago, I’ve gained a new-found respect for all the mamas out there. Being someone’s mom is truly one of the toughest jobs in the entire world. And as a first-time mom, no one can prepare you for the ride ahead. It’s demandingly grueling and thankless at times. It fills you with self doubt and feelings of inadequacy as you’re navigating this new, uncharted territory in your new role, but at the same time it’s so incredibly rewarding as you watch your little one grow and blossom from week to week. You find a depth and capacity for love you never imagined existed and have a stronger understanding for the devotion and sacrifice your mom gave to you. Needless to say, Mother’s Day is taking on a stronger meaning this year as a first time mom, so I’m teaming up with my friend, Yen of @YenCheeDesign to host a Mother’s Day Instagram Giveaway. We’re giving away a matching 14K gold necklace and earrings set from Yen’s stunning quartz crystal collection! Quartz crystals have been known for centuries to promote harmony and balance, and what mom couldn’t use a […]

I’ve had this antique marble lamp base for ages that I’ve been looking for a lampshade for so when HOW – Hands On Workshop asked I’ve I’d be interested in test driving their DIY Beginner’s Lampshade Making Kit, I was like, heck yeah–I’m in! HOW – Hands On Workshop creates Beginner DIY Kits for budding makers that you can make in your pajamas if you like! The customizable kit ships right to your doorstep and includes all the materials needed to create the craft + step by step, detailed instructions. They also have great video tutorial resources too. Does it get any easier than that?! You guys know I’m a fabric nut, so I was excited that Hands on Workshop uses authentic Japanese Tenugui fabric for their lampshades and that each DIY kit has fabric/color options to personalize your project just to you. I’ve wrapped pre-made lampshades with fabric before, but I’ve never made the actual lampshade itself, because I have to say I was a bit intimidated by it. I didn’t think I could make one professional looking enough to want to use in my house. Not to mention, where do you find the supplies? Hands on Workshop totally blew […]

Interior designer, Tasha Tyler, and I first bonded several years ago over a shared love of antiquing, thrifting and pretty much all things vintage. Tasha, who is affectionately nicknamed Granny Tash because of the long list of things she has in common with grandmothers everywhere, including a total love affair with vintage curiosities, is a retro-curating veteran. She’s been collecting and selling vintage treasures through various outlets for years, long before it was considered chic or “on trend”. And has recently opened her own smartly curated vintage home shop, Granny Tash. I was so excited when I heard what Tasha was up to because I absolutely LOVE her style. I’d say it’s 2 parts mid-century to 1 part classic modern with a dash of quirk in there somewhere. Exhibit A: Her Instagram Account. She’s got a discerning eye for spotting those diamond-in-the-rough, statement pieces that possess the effortless ability to add soul and a “collected over time” sensibility to your space. My favorite pieces in her shop are the Vintage Embroidered Pillow Covers. Colorful. Handmade. Heaven. (There’s only one set available, so make sure to snag them!) And now for the fun part! As a way to spread the vintage […]
