Happy Twenty Sixteen! After a much needed break, many of us are back to work and preparing for the year ahead. To tell the truth, I’ve never been super great at keeping a daily planner. Typically, I start one in January and then halfway through March, I’ve forgotten I even started one. Each year though, I keep trying in an effort to be more organized, and minimize the number of things swimming around in my head at night as I try to fall asleep. So in 2016, I’m making my planner extra pretty, because I figure there’s a better chance of me actually sticking with it that way. I found a dateless planner from Mochithings, (check them out for planners and other awesome office supplies) and customized the cover with raised stickers to reflect the current calendar year. Cheers to attempting to organize the chaos in twenty sixteen! Customize your planner cover for 2016! MATERIALS: Dateless Scheduler | Letter Stickers | T-square | Scissors Cut the plastic sheeting around the letters needed to spell “two thousand sixteen”. It’s a bit tough to see in the photo, but each cut out letter has the plastic sheeting underneath it. Place your t-square […]

As you guys MAY have picked up from my last post, I’m all about the brass these days. I love the warmth of the metal and the way it works with my favorite wardrobe color…blue! Recently, I’d seen an upscale (read: $$$) pair of brass hoop earrings on Pinterest that looked like they’d–straight-up–been created by bending a piece of wire into a loop. And at that moment I thought to myself: A. Those are gorgeous, and B. I can bend wire. So I set out to make a pair for myself. The total cost was under $10 bucks, and these minimalist brass hoops, literally, made up in 10 minutes. I used this non-tarnishing brass wire, and there’s enough on the roll to make several sets, so think Secret Santa gifts this year! Head over to SheKnows for the full tutorial, ya’ll!

It’s always so exciting when “Spring Ahead” Daylight Savings rolls around. Not only is Spring so imminently close you can feel it, but our days become noticeably longer. That means more daylight for blogging and less of a race against the clock to get everything done before the sun sets. (Can I get an amen?!) Along with this bout of spring fever comes an urge to hit the reset button: spring cleaning, switching over to summer clothes, and updating a few everyday use things that get beat up over the winter. So I started small this weekend and gave my keyring a fresh facelift with these spring-y faux leather keychains. So long Winter, good to see you Spring! Materials: Gold keychain clasp ($2 each at Menards!) Faux leather Gold metallic thread Sewing needle Cutting mat Rotary cutter T-square or ruler Scissors Clear spray sealer (totally optional) 1. Cut a 5/8″ wide x 7-1/2″ long strip of faux leather or leather. 2. Fold one end of the strip lengthwise. 3. Cut the strip at 45 degree angle upward towards the middle of the strip to create the notch. 4. Repeat with the other end of the strip. 5. Thread the strip through the closed […]

Remember those old school buttons that radiantly proclaimed, “I Am Loved”? My Grandma gave me one when I was little, and somehow the phrase always stuck with me. Such a simple phrase with a clear message. Since the phrase “I am loved” is not the most appropriate phrase to write on your valentine’s valentine, I modified the phrase to read “You Are Loved,” and layered it on a pink ombre card with gilded cursive lettering, because who doesn’t love a gold and pink ombre card on V-day? Print them out, add a hint of gold leafing and hand out to your faves! Materials: “You Are Loved” template printed on white 8-1/2″ x 11″ cardstock Scissors Extra fine point gold Sharpie paint pen Gold leafing pen Ruler White notecard envelope, 4-3/8″ x 5-5/8″ 1. Print out the template and cut out card along light grey lines. Don’t cut the center grey line, this is the spine of the card. 2. Starting with the extra fine point Sharpie, trace the light grey letters. Follow up with the gold leafing pen for more metallic shimmer. 3. Place ruler on top of the face down card. Bend the card upwards using the light grey […]
