I’m excited to share today’s post because I was able to wrangle Ashley and Lindsay, the organizing duo behind Style + Dwell, over to my house to help me make sense of my OC office/guestroom. This room is where I do all my blog work: writing, DIY-ing, styling, and photography. We also have a Murphy bed at the opposite end of the room so this room also functions as a guest space too. This space wears so many hats and there’s just one tiny closet. I have quite a collection of craft/office supplies, styling accessories, and guest accoutrements, and nowhere to store it all. I’ll wrap up one project and be onto the next, and without a dedicated place for everything, stuff just doesn’t get put away. The closet is overflowing, the desk is full of clutter and things are basically just shoved randomly on the Murphy Bed shelving! Below is a run down of the project. Make sure to scroll down to watch the VIDEO! BEFORE Right off the bat, Lindsay and Ashley had so many great ideas for this room. I was like, why didn’t I think of that!

Do you guys have people coming to stay for the Holidays? My sister was in town the first week of December celebrating for the Holidays, so we had our guest space in good working order a bit earlier than usual. With the Holidays approaching at lightning speed (seems like anyways!) I thought I’d share some of the things we kept in mind while preparing the room for her arrival, just in case you have people coming to stay too! When getting the room ready… Layer the Bed with extra blankets and pillows so guests can get cozy in a way that suits them! Lighting // Consider including a sconce or night light with an on/off switch that can be accessed from bed. Keep Decor Thoughtful, but Minimal // An uncluttered space is always more welcoming. Fresh Flowers // Speaking of decor, flowers are an inexpensive way to add a special welcoming vibe to the guest room, not to mention flowers smell amazing! Hooks for Belongings // If closet space isn’t available in the room (like ours!) mount a hook or two on the wall for hanging up personal belongings. Towels // Set towels out, or make sure guests know where […]

On the coattails of yesterday’s big reveal, I wanted to breakdown what specific pieces we used to achieve the overall look. There were a few accessories that I DIY’ed myself, like the pink floor mirror, Ikat lumbar pillow, message board and indigo-dyed shams, but most everything else is shoppable. I also tried really hard only to include links to the EXACT accessories you see in the reveal. The only exceptions to this are a few of the DIY’ed pieces and the insanely gorgeous, one of a kind vintage rug from Woven Abode. In this case, I linked to the most similar rug available. Where to Find Everything: A. Murphy Bed | B. Tall Shelf | C. Gold Vase | D. Alarm Clock | E. Woven Basket | F.
