Despite concerted efforts at cultivating a green thumb, I’ve never quite been able to unlock the mystery of houseplants. So thank goodness I married a man with an innate (rugged, but nurturing) ability to keep plants green. Though I may not get a gold star in raising plants, I do quite love scheming up cool ways to house the plants my husband grows. Most recently, I DIY’ed a mid mod planter for a mini-palm that was sitting homeless in our living room. And it was as simple as stacking two Target bowls on top of one another (and adhering them together of course!). I LOVE this planter for it’s Mid Century simplicity, and the modern platform it creates for the mini palm! The two bowls I used were this one & this one . Hop over to Sugar & Cloth for the full tutorial! And don’t forget to pin this project for later! Dig this DIY and want more?

Happy Hump Day! Today I’m sharing a DIY paper art piece I created for Homedit inspired by the colorful and geometric sensibility of kaleidoscopes. Large scale art can be quite costly, but get creative with geometric paper shapes, and you’ll have room-defining art in about an hour. I think this color palette would be super fun in a nursery! I created this tutorial while watching the movie, Copenhagen, on Netflix. Has anyone seen it? I hadn’t heard anything about it, but I thought I’d give it a shot since it would just kind of be on in the background while I was cutting paper diamonds, but I actually really liked it. It’s a little dark and complex, super intriguing though. I found myself straight up watching the movie and finishing up this project afterward. I love it when movies can transport you like that. Anywho–I digress! Go check out the deets on creating a graphic, one-of-a-kind paper art piece for your own home.

Okay you guys, I have a SUPER simple DIY on the books for today. It’s so simple I’m not even sure we can call this a tutorial, so we won’t. It’s more like a repurposing of sorts–but anywho! I’m loving the hand sculpture home accessories we’re seeing so smartly tucked into interiors lately. Last week when I was at the craft store picking up supplies for another project, I came across a hand form in the jewelry supplies section intended for ring display, and a light bulb went off to paint it a fun color and use it as a hand sculpture accessory for our living room. You could definitely leave it black (the way it comes), or use it as a ring stand. Though if you plan to use it as such, make sure to seal the sculpture with a spray varnish to prevent chipping. Materials: Resin Hand Form + Montana Gold Acrylic Paint, Color: Blue Signal 1. Apply 2-3 coats of spray paint covering the hand completely. Montana Gold bonded beautifully and their range of spray paint color is fantastic! 2. Allow the sculpture to dry. If you plan to use as a home accessory, you’re done and ready […]
