Are you working from home this year? Boost your well-being and productivity with these top work from home tips and tools! It’s no secret work environment affect mood and productivity, but recent research also shows closely it’s tied to our health and greater sense of well-being—Everything from headaches and back pain brought on by poor posture to increased risk of cardiovascular disease from extended periods of sitting. With both Ken and myself continuing to work from home 3 days a week with no signs of slowing down, we doubled down on creating a work space that would prioritize well-being and productivity equally. Every year that passes, I do think more thoughtfully about how to keep ourselves healthy and active. For the amount of time we spend working, it’s important we create WFH space that fosters a long and healthy life. From ergonomics to lighting to additional power sources and creature comforts, here are our favorite WFH tools. A. Standing Desk: One of the most exciting and impactful additions has been our FlexiSpot Adjustable Standing Desk. According to the Mayo Clinic, recent research shows extended periods of sitting are unhealthy for us long term. Sitting for 2+ hours at a time is […]

On the coattails of yesterday’s big reveal, I wanted to breakdown what specific pieces we used to achieve the overall look. There were a few accessories that I DIY’ed myself, like the pink floor mirror, Ikat lumbar pillow, message board and indigo-dyed shams, but most everything else is shoppable. I also tried really hard only to include links to the EXACT accessories you see in the reveal. The only exceptions to this are a few of the DIY’ed pieces and the insanely gorgeous, one of a kind vintage rug from Woven Abode. In this case, I linked to the most similar rug available. Where to Find Everything: A. Murphy Bed | B. Tall Shelf | C. Gold Vase | D. Alarm Clock | E. Woven Basket | F.

See how we created a guestroom within our office using a murphy bed. Click for the full before & after! Baby Girl Francois is well on her way to taking over our current guestroom come February, and with 3 bedrooms in our home: our bedroom, my office/studio, and the soon-to-be-nursery, we had to figure out a way to accommodate overnight guests comfortably without resorting to our living room sofa (our only sofa) as the royal sleeping chambers. After much ‘what-the-heck-are-we-going-to-do-with-our-guest-bed-situation?‘ discussion, Ken and I concluded that our only real option was to add a bed to my current office and turn it into a multi-use space by re-configuring the layout. I tossed in the idea of doing a murphy bed, because I had one in my tiny first apartment post-college, and they’re such a smart space saver. The way it folds up into itself when not in use, giving me nearly the same amount of space in my office to work on large projects as I originally had, was just too tempting to pass up! It’s no secret that big projects like these can get messy: from parts and pieces scattered everywhere throughout the house to fugitive dust bunnies unearthing […]

With our guest room taking on a new roll as the nursery, Ken and I have been busy adding guest room functionality to my blog room. It’s like musical rooms around here right now: a little chaotic, but mostly just fun. The blog/guest room transformation will be revealed next month, but in the meantime, I wanted to share this little plate clock DIY I created for the space. It’s made from a Suite One Studio dessert plate (Love her work so much I decided to hang it on the wall!) and the premise of the project is pretty much just attaching a clock mechanism to the plate. Believe me you got this! As you guys have probably heard me say before, the trick to DIY-ing isn’t having the best knowledge or skills (I mostly learn along the way), it’s more about picking inherently cool materials from the start so minimal effort is needed along the way in order to end up with a cool piece in the end. Hop on over to Sugar & Cloth for the tutorial on how to make this time-telling gem! Follow
