Zermatt, Switzerland was a huge surprise for me because I didn’t expect to thoroughly enjoy it the way I did. It was a place that topped Ken’s travel list, so I went along with it hoping I’d see what he saw in it. Zermatt is a tiny mountain village nestled high into the Swiss Alps and only reachable by train, so it truly feels like a getaway. And this quaint mountain town offers up loads of Swiss charm with the kindest people, the best homemade cheese fondue, and the most delicious white wines that you can only find in Switzerland. (The country as a whole doesn’t export their wine.) The surrounding areas are an outdoor enthusiast’s dream. The town of Zermatt is essentially located in a bowl created by the sprawling Swiss Alps, so you can imagine the killer skiing and hiking at your fingertips! Not to mention the dramatic Matterhorn Mountain that towers above it all. We hopped on the Gornergrat Bahn train which takes you up to 10,000 feet (3100 meters) to get a closer look at the Grinch-like Mount Crumpet, and even at 10k feet, we felt incredibly humbled by the sheer size of this iconic landform. In addition to the fan. tas.

I’m so very excited to announce that Ken and I have finally booked our flights abroad for a two week journey to Paris, Zermatt, and Positano this coming Spring! It’s been 7 years (7 years!) since I spent a semester studying design in London, and I’ve been itching to go back abroad ever since. It will be Ken’s first time in Western Europe, and I’m brimming with excitement just thinking about sharing this experience together. The plan is to fly into Paris in early May, take the train down through the Swiss Alps, stop off in a few quaint mountain towns along the way, and eventually land on the Amalfi Coast for few days before flying home out of Naples. The accommodations and subsequent travel details have yet to be planned, so if you have a favorite place to eat, stay, see, or shop, please share! I’ve been to Paris a handful of times, but the Swiss Alps and the Amalfi Coast are entirely new to me. Here’s to 170 days and counting!
