Let’s hear it for the wallflowers! Turn backyard flowers and foliage into wall decor with these ten chic wall vases. Plus, my favorite spot to hang them! Hello Summer! ‘Tis the season for decorating with backyard flowers and foliage. This past weekend I brought dill flowers in from the garden and hung them in a wall vase above our headboard inspired by Kinfolk Table. I’ve been enjoying them so much I pulled together a round-up of wall hanging vases from my Pinterest boards in case you’re feeling the urge to create some vertical foliage magic of your own! one | two | three | four | five | six | seven | eight | nine | ten Below is the 5″ vase I have hanging above my bed. I didn’t include it in the round-up image (above), because the way they styled it with plastic flowers, it doesn’t quite go with the vibe of the other vases–lol–but this is the one I have. It’s globe-shaped, but the backside is flat so it sits nicely flush against the wall. They also have a 7″ version of this vase that I think might be an even better size for above the bed.

It’s no secret that I’m a sucker for wall vases. Exhibit A. Exhibit B. I just really freaking love bringing the organic lines of flowers and branches onto the wall, and I keep finding new ways of creating them. So I thought I’d share the latest which includes permanently attaching a picture hanger to the back of a flat-sided vase using a mouldable glue that turns to plastic as it hardens–I mean what will they think of next?! I also used a faux leather wrap to the conceal a chunk of flower foam at the bottom of the vase which helps keep branches somewhat in place. Take your bouquet from the table to the wall with this space-saving hack, and check out more on the vase in our murphy bed guest room reveal! Materials: Small vase with at least one flat side Sugru Mouldable Glue Picture hanger Small piece of leather or faux leather Industrial adhesive Floral foam 1. Roll two mini pea-sized Sugru balls in your hands, place them on either end of your picture hanger and center the hanger on the top back of the flat vase. Flatten the Sugru balls adhering the hanger to the vase and […]

I have probably the simplest DIY on the planet for you today! In fact, you might even consider it more of a styling trick–it’s that simple. Lately, I’ve been borderline obsessed with hanging vases of flowers on my walls, and it all started with this wall vase version a few years ago where I’d adhered a picture hanger to a vase with heavy duty adhesive and hung it on the wall like a picture. It was such a simple way to add fresh botanicals to vertical surfces. Fast forward to two weeks ago where I needed something organic to pair with my DIY key holder, so on a whim I pulled out a Command strip and quickly hung a vase of eucalyptus on the wall. I only had black strips at the time, but I still think it still worked out. (Check out the last photo in this post for a look.) I love how it turned out, so I left the vase on the wall for as long as the eucalyptus would allow. I even made another for my blog room when Mr. Francois came home with tulips last week! The obvious great thing about using removable hanger strips […]

How far before Holidays do you typically decorate? For me it totally depends on the Holiday. For Christmas, it’s a month-long extravaganza, but for Halloween, it’s much less of a production, just a few decorations and pumpkins, so it all comes out the weekend before. This year will be a fun one, because it’s our first time handing out candy to trick-or-treaters…ever! We’ve been renting in apartments for over a decade, so it’ll be fun to celebrate Halloween in our new home and check out the neighborhood costume display! I made this skull vase from a styrofoam skull I found at the craft store on sale for $4.99 as part of our Halloween repertoire this year, but I like it so much, I might leave it up even after the Holiday passes. Check out the tutorial at Homedit. And Happy Halloween! Follow
