This past weekend Ken and I stopped in at Fitger’s while in Duluth for an obligatory (ha!) growler exchange at the Brewhouse. (Have you tried their Apricot Wheat Beer? It’s crazy good.) On our way out of the complex, we passed through the courtyard where we held our wedding reception 2 years prior and saw there was another wedding reception underway that evening. It brought back such fun memories of that night, so I thought I’d post a few photos and share our experience in case anyone is considering tying the knot in Duluth. Just over two years ago, we held our wedding reception at The Fitger‘s Brewery Courtyard which overlooks the great Lake Superior, and the idea was to host a classic and elegant dinner party–not too fussy and overdone. Instead, focusing on simple elements to set a relaxed, but thoughtful tone. The Brewery’s distressed exterior brick created the perfect backdrop, while oversized cafe lights dressed the Courtyard providing an ambient glow as the sun went down. We were concerned that the weather might not cooperate, but it was a beautiful Duluth evening–no wind or misquitoes to speak of. We really lucked out! During the cocktail hour we served Fitger‘s Brewhouse pints, grapefruit mojitos, and a mix of antipasti hors d’oeuvres. Ice cream cones were scooped from a vintage ice cream vendor cart while […]

I love New Years. Not because I like to dress up and sip cocktails with friends–although you may have gathered from my last post that I enjoy that piece of it too–I like New Years because to me its a symbol of new beginnings. It’s the start of a brand new year, with new possibilities, wishes, adventures and challenges. It’s a blank book just waiting for you to write the chapters, and I find that so gosh-darn exciting! At the end of our wedding day, a year and a half ago, we lit off (biodegradable) sky lanterns over Lake Superior as a symbol of happy wishes and new beginnings. I still remember what I wished for that night as Ken and I lifted our lantern off into the air together. It was a simple, but meaningful wish, and one that’s tied to the beautiful memory of watching the lanterns float up and away into the sky. Tonight as the ball drops at midnight and we say hello to 2014, I’ll be sending off a proverbial sky lantern packed with healthy, happy, and inspired wishes for all that’s to come in this fresh New Year. Here’s to 2014! Photos By: Eric Lundgren […]
