Between the lack of sunshine and seemingly endless bitter cold weather, this time of year can be tough, so I’ve been trying to incorporate little things into my daily routine that make me feel good inside and out, as well as invigorate the senses to help tide me over until our old friend Spring gets here!
The Candle: I received this Jane Austen Soy Candle as a gift last year, and am loving it’s fragrant notes of gardenia and jasmine as well as the warm glow the amber glass gives off when the candle’s lit on a sub-zero day. See all the scents in Paddywax’s Library Collection here.
The Shampoo: I ordered this hops scented shampoo for my brew-master husband’s Christmas stocking, as he loves the smell of hops, and lately I find myself trading in my shampoo for his! It’s an all natural shampoo with hops flower, rosemary and grapefruit essential oils that smells amazing and is made by Atlantic Farms, a small start-up company out of Long Island. The hops flower is fantastic for combating the dry scalp that sets in this time of year–I’m hooked!
The Tea: I’ve always been a loose-leaf tea kind of girl because the flavor just seemed to be richer and fresher, but that was until I tried Tea Forte. Their pre-packaged teas blew me away in terms of richness of flavor, interesting tea blends, and packaging. The string at the top of the teabag hides a wire, so that the leaf at the end of the string stands up peeking out of your tea cup or mug. My favorite flavor so far is Citrus Mint, a perfect melange of lemon and peppermint. They also sell loose leaf tea, and I can only imagine the brewing perfection there.
So those are some of my faves right now. Are there things you do or incorporate into your daily routine to help combat seasonal sluggishness?
