A Twinkly Toast

I’m loving Wilton’s Edible Gold Star Sprinkles!  In 10 minutes they can turn a simple glass of champagne into a festive, party-ready aperitif. Cin-cin! Santé! Cheers!

Materials Needed:

  • Wilton Edible Gold Stars, also available at Joann’s.
  • 2 Salad-sized Plates
  • Tap Water
  • Stemware of your choice. Mine are a vintage set I scored at less than $1 a glass!
  • Champagne or beverage of your choice

The process is very similar to adding a salt rim to a margarita glass:

Step 1. Add a small amount of tap water to one of the plates so that the water is about an 1/8″ deep.

Step 2. On the other plate, sprinkle the gold stars in a circle roughly the size of your wine or champagne glass rim.

Step 3. Turn the wine glasses upside down, and one at a time, place the rim of the glass on the place with the water so just the tip of the rim is coated in water. Keep glass upside down and shake off excess water.

Step 4. Place the glass on the plate with the gold stars. Press down and gently twist the glass until the rim is glittered with stars.

Step 5. Turn glass right-side up and set aside.

Step 6. Repeat steps 3-5 until all glasses are rimmed, adding more star sprinkles to the plate as needed.

Step 7. Fill glasses with your chosen beverage, and serve!

Note: It’s quite important to shake off excess water from the glass rim before adding the stars. When wet, the gold stars start to stick together and to the plate, so you’ll only want enough water on the glass to adhere the stars to the glass, and not leave a puddle on the plate afterward.
